Last year, two sisters from Canberra decided to quit their 9am-5pm office jobs and follow their passion to inspire people to live a happier, healthier and more balanced life. They’re Emma and Carla Papas AKA ‘The Merrymaker Sisters’ and they’ve been merrymaking their way to success in the paleo world.
The girls radiate positivity and are creating a life they’re passionate about, a life that makes them want to jump out of bed every day. This is something that we all want! The Merrymaker Sisters blog about real food, healing, mindfulness and bliss. They also share lots of delicious paleo recipes. I don’t follow any diets but I have tried and tested some of their recipes and they are delish! You can find the recipes for paleo chocolate mousse and double choc, coconut cookies on The Balancing Act.
The girls are on a mission to make a positive difference in the world and to inspire you to follow your bliss! So they align perfectly with The Balancing Act and that’s why we’re featuring The Merrymaker Sisters in this week’s Friday Five.
Carla and Emma are the kind of people you need in your life to inspire you to pursue your dreams and to maintain a positive outlook on life. Their positive energy is contagious and the messages and mantras they spread are infectious.
When I first interviewed the girls last year they had just over 50,000 followers on social media. They now have more than 70,000 followers and have been travelling the nation and the world spreading merrymaker love wherever they go.
They’ve since been featured in loads of digital and print publications including Women’s Fitness Magazine, I Quit Sugar, MiNDFOOD, Canberra Weekly and news.com.au. They’ve also appeared on Recipe to Riches and have been named on HerCanberra’s 15 Women to Watch in 2015 list.
These girls are on their way to making big, positive changes and are exactly the kind of inspiration that is needed in this world!
Friday Five with The Merrymaker Sisters:
1. Excluding family members, who influences you most and why?
Good question! Would have to be our AMAZING reader community. They always come up with such great ideas and provide us so much quality feedback that we can then feed back in to our business.
2. What has been the most challenging part of your journey so far?
The most challenging but also the biggest highlight of our merrymaker journey so far would definitely have to be quitting our full time government jobs to merrymake full time… seriously, the most amazing thing ever! We celebrated with delicious merrymaker sweet treats that tasted extra good because we knew we were finally following our bliss!
3. If the world were silent for 20 seconds and all ears were turned to you, what would you say?
Follow your bliss. You have one life, one chance… you may as well spend it doing what you love!
4. What is your favourite merrymaker creation?
This changes ALL THE TIME! There are often moments when we say “OMG this is best thing we’ve ever made!” So right now, our favourite merrymaker creation would have to be our Sweetener Free Pumpkin Cacao Brownie! So good, so yum! Get the recipe > Sweetener Free Pumpkin Cacao Brownie
5. Most exciting thing we’ve ever done:
Just one?! That’s hard! But recently our trip to the Philippines for the Tropical Think Tank event was outta control exciting and amazing on so many levels! You can’t beat face-to-face networking and learning! Five days of intense masterminding has done absolute wonders for our business and inspiration!
